New technology results in growth of IT firm
Escape ends 2009 with £400,000 of new business

Aberdeen-based Escape, the energy-focused provider of business technology solutions, completed 2009 with £400,000 of new business.

Recent projects included IT consultancy and virtualisation work for clients including OMV UK, Axiom Process and Dron & Dickson.  Escape has partnered with US firm FalconStor Inc to offer Disaster Recovery (DR) technology to firms in the oil and gas sector and was appointed by Central Europe’s largest oil and gas corporation, OMV UK, to carry out a risk analysis on its IT systems.  As a result, Escape then implemented a full disaster recovery plan for the firms UK data.

Mike Bain, director, Escape, said:  “We are delighted to have completed the year with a range of exciting and successful projects.  Our ethos is to grasp new technologies and by partnering with industry leading experts such as FalconStor Inc we are able to offer a range of flexible solutions through our people to our clients.

“We continue to focus on the global oil industry and have also diversified into the construction, renewables and nuclear industry and continue to see an increase in firms looking for an outsourced IT function.”

OMV is one of 7 UK oil operators that Escape supports throughout the lifecycle of the well.  For OMV, it was essential that if there were any communication issues within their UK operations, their systems could become operational again very quickly

Katherine Walker, UK Country Services Manager – IT, OMV, said: “We needed to ensure that our operations would not be affected by damage or destruction to our office.  This became even more critical during recent exploration drilling offshore UK.  Their expertise has been invaluable in the implementation of an extremely complex project.”

Escape recently invested £100,000 into a Highlands & Islands base by setting up a Network Operations Centre (NOC) in Thurso.  The office will provide enhanced remote monitoring to existing clients and provide a local presence to support energy focused companies whom are operating in the nuclear and renewables industry.
