25/06/08 - ESCAPE DIRECTOR GEARS UP FOR TRANSSIBERIAN RALLY

IT skills shortageAberdeen-based entrepreneur Robin Parkinson, a director of rapidly-growing communications technologies firm Escape Business Technologies, is to take part in the gruelling Transsiberian 2008 rally.

Robin was offered a last-minute slot as co-driver/navigator and is the only Scot taking part in the epic 4,471-mile adventure from Moscow to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, starting on July 11 and due to end on July 25.

He is an extreme sports fan and has previously taken part in the Chelsea to Monacco Canonball run for charity with fellow Escape director Mike Bain. But Robin says the Transsiberian rally is a once-in-a-lifetime challenge, with competitors contending with extreme driving conditions, including swamps, river crossings, snow and sandstorms in the Gobi desert.

Press packs, including images from last year’s rally, route map and further information of conditions and distances faced by the drivers are available at:  www.transsyberia-rallye.com   There will also be regular blogs posted on the website as the race progresses.

Escape reported increased turnover by 25% to £2.5m in 2007-08 and has plans to expand further and open an office in Perth, Australia, later this year to offer a full service to many of its clients.

The company won contracts worth more than £500,000 in the first six weeks of the current financial year (08-09), including projects to help provide upgrade and IT support  services for several blue-chip companies. For further information on Escape Business Technologies, visit www.escape-tech.co.uk
